 Google Classroom

Google classroom is a free web service and learning management system through which the process of sharing files is streamlined between teachers and the students. It has been used for online classes in most parts of schools across Bhutan during the pandemic where the contact teaching was not doable. Google classroom provides a platform to share data and files between the tutor and the tutee. In this rapidly developing world where technology is advancing, children are ‘digital native’ and making things easier, teachers should be in the position to use this entire platform to make learning meaningful.

The world is uncertain so is the pandemic like ‘covid 19’ whereby physical contact is strictly prohibited and at the moment, how are we going to keep our students engaged without coming to school? Learners cannot be left to their own choice because this is the stage that requires guidance and must be kept engaged. Google classroom is one way to encourage children to learn and participate. Google classrooms assist the learning environment for the children by being able to share the concept virtually. It is vital for a teacher to educate themselves first and then, teach the use of Google classroom to the students. The below shown are the few steps required to create a Google classroom.

Step 1: Open any browser (Chrome, internet explorer, mozilla) and type www.googleclassroom.com or download ‘Google classroom’ app on the phones of desktop.

Step 2: Sign in using an email address (Email address can be your personal (e.g., udenpema404@gmail.com) or education mail (06170167.pce@rub.edu.bt).

Step 3: Select as a ‘Teacher’ form the Student or Teacher option.

Step 4: The Google class web page will be displayed.

Step 5: We can invite students and as well as co- tutor by using their email address.

Step 6: The lesson can be organized in weekly.

Step 7:The features in google classroom provides an efficient and interactive platform. in the People section, we can invite the student through emails. 

How to Use

This video is going to use during lesson closure. After the lesson about parts of flower. I will conduct a quiz to check my lesson. This  material will be used to do a online quiz. Student need to go to the link and have to attempt it individually.


When to use.

The material that I have designed will be use during lesson closure. Through that  teacher will be able to  know about child's learning. 



Making a quiz for the class

Steps:

1.      Go to the class >classwork

 

2.      Click on the Create plus sign.

3.      Choose Quiz Assignment.

4.      Set the title of the quiz based on the content on which the quiz is created.

5.      In the instruction box, ‘give instruction to your quiz’.

6.      Choose a Blank Quiz Google form

7.      Type the question to the quiz. (For example Q1. Q2. Q3, Q4, Q5)

8.      You can also frame questions based on what you want to create. For example multiple choices, short answer type.

 On the right hand side, click on the image icon

 Browse the image from internet or the folder saved.

Why I have chosen Camtasia as my teaching materials.

Creating digital learning resources using Camtasia studio. Digital Learning Resources are beneficial and advantageous to the learners. For a Covid- struck situation like the current scenario where the contact teachings are not pragmatic, a video tutorial is the best option for delivering the lesson and keep students engaged. It would also cater to the different learners; considering the nine multiple intelligences. It is also extra useful information to the teacher and teachers would be exploring different ways to use digital resources for delivering effective lessons. 

The following are the steps in creating my video tutorial: 

1. Open a new PowerPoint presentation and make the required presentation content to be delivered to the students. 

2. Necessary animations, timings, and pictures need to be inserted to make the lesson interesting. 

3. Open Camtasia Studio (Use the latest Camtasia to obtain the best features for video editing). 

4. Click on Record the Screen Option. 

5. The Recording Box will appear. 

6. To Record the presentation open the presentation and view it in Slide Show. 

7.  Choose 'Full-Screen Option', Click on Webcam and  Audio Option to start recording. The recording count down begins.  

Note# When Webcam is turned on, your image will appear. 

8. To stop the recording, press key F10 on the keyboard.

9. After finished recording, click on save and it automatically appears on the editing mode on Camtasia. 

10. Make the necessary edition and produce the video to use.


When to use
the materials that I have designed are going to use during my lesson input and activity. in the my video in include the main theme of the topic that is about number on calendar. I have put all the necessary information where students can learn with interest. during my lesson activity I will let students to go through my materials and will let them to do the activity.

How to use
firstly, I will use my materials while  introducing and explaining my lesson. in case of introduction, I will show the pictures and will make my students to guess the topic. after that I will show some important note and picture to make students more clear. I have also designed activity where students can refer the previous slides and answer the questions. not only that I will also use it to close my lesson where we can revisit to our previous lesson.

How I created my content based learning

ICT has played a vital role in enhancing the learning in this 21st century. Simulation is one way to create an interesting learning materials for the child. I have created a simulation based on the topic 'Dress in Bhutan'. This topic is for the lower primary children so that they are aware of what dresses are seen and worn in Bhutan. 

The following explains how the simulation has been made: 

  1. Open a new ppt. by right clicking on the desktop or select form the Microsoft Office. 
  2. Add a new slide 
  3. Add necessary content to be delivered. (Dress in Bhutan).
  4. Add necessary animations to each object selected to depict to the students. 
  5. The timings of the animations must be kept in such a way that is appears simultaneously and it should be kept with the 'With Previous' Option.
  6. Ensure timings of start, delay and duration of the animation based on your lesson. 
  7. Insert voice to provide clear information to the students.  

When am I going to use this materials?

The materials that I have uploaded will use during my learning activity. The reason for using that is through my materials we will able to gain the attention of learners and make our learning more fun. As students will enjoy learning in concrete way. It will use if we can't have a contact teaching or if we faced some pandemic like the current situation in such cases also we can use this video tutorials to delivered our lesson.

How am I going to use the Materials?

The materials that I have designed will be used during learning activity, where I will show the simulation that I design and will let students to write some of the dress that are worn by our Bhutanese people.

After integrating ICT in my lesson plan or in content based materials, I find it very effective and easy for me to teach. So, I urge you all to integrate ICT in your daily activity as it play a various role and make our life easy and for teachers as students it make teaching and learning more conducive.

Fraction




Hello to all my charming readers.

I hope you had read my first blog that is on weather.  This is my second blog which is about Fraction for class 2 students. This time I focuses more on reflection on content based materials which I have designed by integrating power point. First of all the content based materials that I have designed was related to my topic ‘Fraction’ under mathematics curriculum. My main objectives here is to define what does  Fraction means and also some types of fraction like Half fraction and quarter fraction.  In addition to that I have also provided some real example of fraction which we can see around us. Before going through the real part of how, when and why I created the content based materials let me share some information on importance of using ICT in our learning classroom.


 Now, let me introduce you all about my creation of materials. For my creation of materials I have used power point as teaching and learning tools because it provides dynamic teaching styles which can employ all different types of learner. I have created power point in such a way that it can uphold the attention of students in glimpse. Since my topic is about Fraction, I used some related tools from PowerPoints. Since my materials is related to primary class and to make it realistic I have also downloaded some images from internet. I used image in each slides to make learning more attractive and help them to understand better. It will also help visual learners to learnt better as it is visually represent with pictures and different color combinations. In order to wipe out the monotonous feelings of audiences while going through my presentation I have used various ingredient of animation which includes entrance, emphasis, and exit in my power point presentation

The instructions for creating content based materials are as follows:

Ø  Firstly with proper planning and looking an advantage I have chosen power point as my ICT tools for designing my materials as I stated earlier it provides teaching styles.

Ø  Depending upon my topic Fraction I have downloaded some images which is realistic and familiar to learners to make my slide attractive.

Ø  Secondly before entering the zone of designing presentation I make some notes to keep designing the presentation in systematic way. Because systematic is one of the technique to make presentation better.

Ø  In first slide, to gain the attention and to provide hint about the topic, I put some pictures and wrote the topic in bigger size.

Ø   After that I have provided some definition and example of fraction, halt fraction, and quarter fraction.

Ø  While providing an example, I put some pictures which is real and which we have seen before to make students relate it in their life.

Ø  My activities are made in order to make student think and the activities were designed to work them collaborative within group which is modern pedagogy which also sustain student learning.

Ø  To do activity I have also provided some pictures where they can look at that and write the answer from that.

 When am I going to use this materials.

the materials that I have uploaded will use during my lesson input and activity. the reason for using that is through my materials we will able to gain the attention of learners and make our learning more fun. as students will enjoy learning in concert way. it will use if we can't have a contact teaching or if we faced some pandemic like the current situation in such cases also we can use this video tutorials to delivered our lesson.

How am I going to use the Materials.

The materials that I have designed will be used during lesson input and activity, where I will show some pictures and tell them how it is related to the topic. after that I will also tell some real example we can see around us. for example my topic is about fraction, in that case i had put some pictures of apple and peach which is whole and one where cut into two equal part. through that students will know the concepts of whole and fractions. during activity also i have used shape like circles and triangle, then I divided it into equal parts and let students write the fraction of that shapes. in that way we can  use my materials.


After integrating ICT in my lesson plan or in content based materials, I find it very effective and easy for me to teach. So, I urge you all to integrate ICT in your daily activity as it play a various role and make our life easy and for teachers as students it make teaching and learning more conducive.

How I created my content based learning materials.

Hello to all my reader,

This is my second post on my blog. Today I came up with the learning activity that I designed using ICT which is a must to all of us in this 21st century.  To design this content based learning materials, I choose class III, English subject where teachers teach about the weather and types of weather. To teach about that topic I integrate PowerPoint as an integral part of the lesson mainly focusing on the activity. In this 21st century it is important for all the teachers to use ICT as a tool for better learning. Since our learners are in the stages of digital immigration they will always learn better through the use of ICT. By keeping this in mind and objectives of the content I had prepared a lesson plan using PowerPoint. Through power point we are able to meet so many challenges like students learning preference and all as PowerPoint has multimedia purpose.

To share about my creation of content based learning materials, as mentioned earlier, I have used PowerPoint to create the materials as it takes so many roles like gaining attention of the learners, different learning styles and interest of the child. Since I chose my topic as ‘Weather’ I downloaded some images from Google to make my materials more realistic. Through that students can learn better as they might also see these types of materials in their daily life. Not only have that for visual learning students they can learn bettered by looking at the images and pictures of the lesson. I also use simple animation like entrance, emphasis and exit so that learners get more attraction and attention. Moreover I have used hyperlink in part of quiz slides which is going to present during activity and I also installed the applause audio for those students who get correct answers. 

Instruction for creating content based materials and activity are as follow;

·         By looking at the benefits and appropriateness, I choose PowerPoint as a tool to prepare learning materials.

·         After that, I use simple animations to grab the attention of the learners.

·         I downloaded some relevant pictures and images from Google and Facebook to make activity attractive.

·         I also write some important notes to make students clear about the topic.

·         By looking at the advantages of concrete learning, I put some images which are realistic.

·         To do the activity, I put some pictures of different weather and names of different weather, where students will match it by looking at the pictures.

·         To make myself clear about the lesson, I have also designed materials to conduct a quiz. And check students' understanding.

·         To those who got the correct answer, I also downloaded some applause audio from the internet to encourage learners.  

When am I going to use my materials:

The materials that I designed will be use during lesson input and activity. In my materials I have used pictures to gain attention of the child and during activity also I have provided  types of weather pictures where students will have a looked and do the activity accordingly.

How am I going to Use my materials.

firstly, I will introduce lesson topic to the child, and then will let them to guess what they already know about the topic. the materials is designed mainly use during lesson input, where students will visualize the topic and make connection in their life. I will show all the pictures of types of weather so that they can looked at it and tell the characteristics of the particular weather.

Where am I going to use my Materials.

Introduction

I am Pema Uden from Trashiyangtse dzongkhag under yallang gewog. To talk about my primary education, I completed my primary school from Melongkhar Primary school which is located in my village. To continue my lower classes, I went to Kheni Lower Secondary school, where we had to walk almost 4 hours from my village. From that I went to Tsenkharla Middle Secondary school to continue my middle classes.Unfortunately when I was at ten grade, I couldn’t qualify for government school and then I came to Nima higher school to continue my higher studies.

At present I am studying here at Paro College of Education and this is my final semester. If
I share little about my college, Paro college of Education is mainly to train the teachers to brighten our youth in future. While staying here at college I learnt so many ideas and strategies to deal with our young learners. When I was young I never dreamt of becoming a teacher, but when I reached here I loved to be one of them.

To share about my family, I have seven siblings, four brothers and two sisters. I am the
middle one and we were the largest family. My father left us when I was at
her for being a wonderful parent to us. Though I don’t have a father to call as
grade 5. We are brought up by our single mother and we are very grateful for
“Dad” but am happy for my mother and siblings for being very much supportive tome wherever I need them.

To share my interest, I like to play outdoor games like football, basketball and
volleyball. I used to participate in such a field during my school days and
and short clips on YouTube and Facebook. I loved to be frank with each and
even now at College. Not only that during my free time, I used to watch movies
I get a chance to be more socialized.
every one, so that I can get a chance to communicate with everyone. Through that

My favorite food is “SHAKKAM PAA”.  I love to cook different food but I am lazy too.
I also like to be friend with my elders. I enjoy working with my villager mates
My best work is to do a paddy field work. i still remember how I work in paddy
during my vacation. They were very interesting and cooperative while working.
